Visiting Frankfurt for the festival, or just happen to be here while it’s happening, and wondering what you can get up to? Capri by Fraser has you covered with all the essential information and tips on where to stay during this year’s festival.
When does the Rheingau Wine Festival take place?
The festival usually takes place over the last week of August, slipping into September so we can hold on to summer for as long as possible.
This year it runs from Thursday 29th August until Sunday 7th September.
It is open daily from 11 am to 11 pm.
How can I get tickets to the Rheingau Wine Festival?
It’s a free public which strives to get everyone out and mingling amongst the sights and sounds of Freßgass.
What is Freßgass?
Roughly translated, Freßgass means Grazing Street, which hopefully gives you an idea of what to expect from the festival. The street is in the middle of Innenstadt, which is a neighbourhood most people would consider the CBD of Frankfurt.
Freßgass has many upmarket shops and restaurants, with it regarded as the culinary hub of the city.
The festival is a great way to hop around without having to make a reservation at a restaurant to get a real flavour of what food in Frankfurt is all about.
How can I get to Rheingau Wine Festival from Capri by Fraser Frankfurt?
Because the festival takes place in a few areas within the neighbourhood, if the weather is great, we highly recommend taking the stroll over to work up an appetite.
A lot of the stalls will be stationed in Opera Square. It’s about a 30-minute walk, and you should head north through the neighbourhood from there.
Using public transport, you’d be best to walk to Frankfurt(Main) Messe around the corner from the hotel and hop on any route heading east. S6 is usually the most common, and you’re looking at 25 minutes to get there.
Anything to know about the festival before going?
With most of the food and wine being served at small stalls, you’ll be paying by cash for everything.
There will be over 30 wine stalls too spread out along the way, so don’t just go for the first one you see as there may be a stall offering a wine more suited to your pallet elsewhere.
Where can I find accommodation near Rheingau Wine Festival?
For those planning to be out most of the day, you’ll want a nice room that can act as a hub for a few days. You’ll want to check out our serviced studio apartments with its own living and kitchen areas. If you’ve managed to grab a bottle of something nice from one of the stalls, the kitchen is fully equipped with wine glasses and opener.
